The lamp was designed in 1967. It was the first in an impressive series of lamps folded using entirely new principles. Poul Christiansen took mathematical sine curves as his point of departure thus achieving a revolutionary movement away from perpendicular folds. The lamp still works with an interplay of light and shadow and creates attractive contrasts, only without perpendicular plissé folds.
